FAQ
Aafarten Canoe Rental – Frequently Asked Questions
How early can we start?
The canoes can be picked up as early as 9:00 AM.
What is the latest time to return the canoes?
Canoes must be returned no later than 18:00
If they are returned later than 18:00, it costs DKK 500 per hour (min DKK 500 for late return)
Where can we pick up the canoes?
Pickup depends on the chosen route, as there are different starting points for each route. We recommend watching our introduction videos for the various canoe routes. Please note that the current flows from Bellinge towards the city.
How many people can fit in a canoe?
The canoes have 3 seats and can hold a maximum of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children (max. 35 kg per child). It is your responsibility to assess whether your children can share the middle seat. However, for optimal stability, we recommend having only 2 people in the canoe, as a higher weight can make the canoe unstable. The maximum load capacity of the canoe is 400 kg, including luggage. Dogs are welcome but at your own risk.
Where are the canoe portage points?
Canoe portage means that you need to bring the canoe ashore and carry it past an area where paddling is not possible. There are no portage points between Bellinge and Munke Mose, but if you continue further north, you may encounter two portage points. One is located after Munke Mose and another at Ejby Mølle. A canoe trolley is provided on these routes.
Is it allowed to play music in a canoe?
We recommend not bringing any music systems on your canoe trip.
They do not belong in the forest and natural surroundings. Soundboxes are not allowed in the canoes. Please respect this rule and be considerate of other guests.
Please note that, out of respect for neighbors, playing music is not allowed at the drop-off point in Munke Mose.
How do we find our reserved canoe?
Your canoe will be ready at the chosen pickup location at the agreed time. Please note that especially in Bellinge, there may be many canoes, some of which do not belong to us. To avoid confusion, your canoe will always be marked with our logo. Inside the canoe, you will find the life jackets you ordered, along with a delivery slip containing your name and the equipment you booked.
Is it allowed to paddle a canoe without a life jacket?
It is mandatory by law to have life jackets in the canoe.
There must be a life jacket for every person on board.
Remember to order life jackets along with your canoe if you are not bringing your own.
Can the canoes be booked for multiple days?
Yes, you can book the canoes for as many days as you wish. Just select the start and end dates in your booking. You will be charged per day.
What happens if I do not return the canoe to the agreed location?
If a canoe is left at a location other than the agreed drop-off point, a fee of DKK 500 per hour will be charged for the time spent locating it – with a minimum charge of one hour. Please contact us if you are unable to reach the drop-off point before 6 PM. Together, we will arrange an alternative drop-off point earlier along the route.
Why is it only possible to paddle from Bellinge starting June 1st?
Please note that paddling from Bellinge is only allowed from June 1st and for the rest of the season. Paddling from Bellinge before June 1st is restricted to protect wildlife. Spring is the breeding season for birds and the spawning period for fish, and activities on the river can disturb bird nests and fish eggs, negatively impacting the populations. . .
